„Acupuncture, though associated with pain, in fact heals it. That is one of its chief purposes. Needling – cleansing – restoring the flow. Within our bodies there is a dense network of channels, through which the Qi energy runs, bonding us with the universe. When the flow of this energy becomes impossible, pain occurs. People accustomed to Western medicine often think it is acupuncture that is painful, pricking with needles all over your body – who cares if the needles are golden or silver […]Insistent commemoration of pain is also a form of constructing the same sort of illusion. The particular means vary – from traumatisation to fetishizing of the affliction. In reality however, they all amount to the same goal: anaesthetisation. Exhibiting trauma is a way to avoid confronting it, to keep dreaming the passive dream about peaceful life and a world where nothing concerns me. How to translate all this into the idiom of an exhibition? Krakowskie Przedmieście has recently become a route of undeniable energetic gravity. […]Many of the artistic projects comprising Aaacupuncture (Aaakupunktura) have been located in the urban space surrounding the gallery. Not necessarily because they would not fit in the building, more because we wanted to demonstrate the existence of differently oriented rites, equally incisive and fervent, yet lacking the burden of ideology.” Anna Miczko
